Hi Jane – this is the advice we learned from our elders but so many of us have gotten far away from. We thought it was old-fashioned, but how wise they seem now! I feel the same way about books – they are my inspiration. And as an author I have so much admiration for other authors and the love they put into their own books. I just finished Water for Elephants – a lovely novel I’m sure you’re library has. Enjoy the book and have fun using up your stash with it. You make SO much sense in your advice. We have done all those things you mention, and still have to pinch pennies–nothing new to us farmers….
I now have to go out and buy your book (at our local quilt shop(-;). I love quilting books, and buy them just to get inspired. I may use one pattern from them, and then again, just enjoy having them around. I do use the library for novels, as they are a one time read almost always. I really am ready for any project I can come up with as I have a stash to die for. When I run out of money for new fabric, I will never have to stop quilting (-;
